Ralston Foods has a strictly-managed food allergen control program to prevent cross-contact with allergens. Ingredients that are allergens are identified as allergens on all formulation, batch, or raw material production records. We have very stringent general manufacturing practices and clean-up procedures in place to avoid cross-contamination of non-allergen containing products with allergen containing products.
Regarding package labeling, any allergens* contained in a Ralston Foods product are listed in bold type, immediately below the ingredient statement.
*Crustaceans, eggs, fish, milk, peanuts, soy, tree nuts, wheat.
Quality Assurance Operating Standards – RTE and Hot Cereal Code Dating Policy
It shall be the intent of this Division that each container and consumer unit will be coded in such a way as to effectively aid in tracing, identifying and recalling any product manufactured or distributed by the Ralston Foods Group, should such a recall be necessary.
Each code date, whether on an individual unit or container, is to be complete and legible. No deviation from the prescribed shipping container codes or individual unit codes is permissible. As a general rule, all cereals will be open date coded (SELL BY or USE BY) All packaged, ready-to-eat cereals will have a 12-month code. All packaged hot cereals will have an 18-month code.
All packages destined for consumer purchase will be date coded using an open date code. The code format (MM DD YY PS) will be composed of:
MMM = month (JAN, FEB,...DEC) DD = day (1, 2, 3,...31) YY = year (02, 03,...) P = plant identification letter S = shift (1, 2, 3)
